Bees haven’t been a direct part of my life for very long—I'm just about to enter my second year as a beekeeper—but the dream of keeping bees has been with me for over 15 years. Their crucial role in sustaining our environment made it impossible to keep this passion on the back burner any longer. So, in 2024, I finally took the plunge and embarked on my beekeeping journey. And now, I’m excited to blend my passions for both carpentry and beekeeping into a meaningful opportunity to connect with individuals from all walks of life who share a deep love and respect for our #1 pollinators.

By merging the crafts of carpentry and beekeeping, I’m creating a unique ecosystem of my own—one that prioritizes sustainable design and innovative solutions tailored to meet the needs of a diverse range of people and businesses. Our sister company, Blunt Axe Design, allows us to explore these different interests professionally, while tapping into distinct markets for each. At BIOM beehives, I collaborate closely with the team at HIIVE to introduce this next-generation beehive to the UK market, ensuring we bring cutting-edge beekeeping technology to enthusiasts and professionals alike. Many of the talented collaborators we’ve worked with at Blunt Axe Design continue to be essential contributors and partners with BIOM beehives, helping us grow and thrive together.

The word bī′ōm′ refers to a large community of plants and animals that occupies a distinct region. Terrestrial biomes, typically defined by their climate and dominant vegetation, include grassland, tundra, desert, tropical rainforest, and deciduous and coniferous forests.

*Interestingly, BIOM is also inspired by the names of my children: Benjamin, Isabelle, Oliver, and Madeleine—each representing a special part of this journey.
